Planning hearing meeting agenda

The Agenda for the meeting on Thursday has been announced on the Hackney Council website.

The meeting starts at 6:30, we don’t know the exact time our bit will be heard, but it is point 9 and 10. It would be great if you could join us to show your support.

Planning Hearing Announced

The next planning hearing for the 2 outstanding points will be on the evening of Thursday 9th December more details to follow.

Correction – there is just one hearing related to the removal of condition 10 (2010/1041)

Planning Decisions (it’s not over yet)

The Agenda and decisions from the meeting last week are now on the Hackney Council website. The full minutes are yet to be published.

As you can see, every application that was granted has conditions and there are two decisions that have been deferred to the next meeting. As we understand it: point 12 regarding the sign is to ask the applicant to provide a less intrusive sign. Point 14 regarding deliveries had insufficient information for a decision to be made.

Supporting local shops and the diversity of Clapton Pond

The nice people from Tescopoly bought out attention to a briefing from Friends of the Earth. It talks about how to work with the council to draw up a Local Development Framework to help direct how we would like the local development to take. Here’s more from Tescopoly:

One thing that you can do to help stop new supermarkets opening in your area in the future is to influence what goes into your Local Development Framework now. Across the country, local councils are drawing up and revising their Local Development Frameworks (LDFs), planning documents which will shape the way communities develop over years to come. Different councils are at varying stages but you can still influence their development as they are required to be reviewed every year and revised every three years. Speak to your local authority to find out what stage the LDF is at in your area. LDFs have the potential to play a vital role in promoting vibrant, diversified and localised retail development. But this will only happen if Local Authorities bring in policies that support their local economy, rather than encouraging the dominance of large-format retailers, car-based shopping and environmental pollution. A new briefing from Friends of the Earth provides an introduction to LDFs and includes suggestions for policies that could be included. Please see the attached Friends of the Earth briefing.

You can find Hackney’s Local Development Framework on the Hackney Council website. Happy reading!

Still time to object

If you missed the deadline for objecting to the planning consent you still can. The planning department will still hand letters to the committee while we are waiting to hear about the next steps. But make sure you do it asap.

Details of how to object to the planning applications are here.
